We're pleased to offer stipends for your attendance
Educators who complete a 4-day institute may receive a $1,000 stipend.
NYSERDA is working to ensure that the benefits of clean energy programs can equitably reach residents of Disadvantaged Communities (DAC), as defined by the Climate Act and the Climate Justice Working Group’s final disadvantaged communities criteria.
The goal of the NYS Clean Energy Educator institutes and workshops is to have at least 50% of attendees be educators teaching in DAC.
Studies show, teachers from high-poverty schools spend more out of pocket than teachers from low-poverty schools.
Because of this, educators teaching in DAC will be offered an equity adjustment of +20% to their stipends ($1,200).
After attending the Institute, your teaching
will be improved because you will:
ONE:
Be able to clearly explain NYS clean energy goals to diverse audiences.
Topics may include: Wind turbines including offshore wind, electric vehicles, solar energy, hydropower, hydrogen power, energy storage, smart grid and electricity transmission.
TWO:
Have a full resource list of lessons and activities you are ready to implement that are connected to your grade and subject-specific learning standards.
THREE:
Know about unique career opportunities from hearing professionals in the field speak and be able to share those with students in the clean energy industry.
